Re: Construction Newsletter and Update
Dear Resident,
The township supervisors have awarded the reconstruction project for Elkview Road and Circle to the lowest bidder Knife River at a scheduled meeting in April. We were pleasantly surprised to receive a bid from this qualified contractor for approximately $21,000.00 less then the engineer estimate.
The Contractor has indicated that they expect to start working on the project approximately June 10th. Mail and garbage services will be maintained during construction so you will not be inconvenienced. Also, general driving and access to and from your residence will be maintained daily. Occasionally you may have to wait short periods for a truck to move or new blacktop to be compacted so your patience is appreciated.
The new road will be shouldered with aggregate base, class 5 when the blacktopping is done. If you want the edge by your property finished with topsoil and seed, it will be your responsibility and you need to call me with your name and address so I know to skip the gravel at your yard.
Please try to keep unsupervised visitors and children back from the construction activity as the equipment is loud and large and the new asphalt will be very hot. We do not want anyone to be harmed. It is okay though to be present at a safe distance to witness the construction.
Please use common sense and avoid driving through fresh tack which is an oily substance sprayed on the road that will stick to your car. Also, avoid driving through any new un-compacted blacktop as it is very hot and a permanent mark will be left for us to remember you for the next 30-years or so. When in doubt, ask one of the construction workers. They will help guide you.
The anticipated construction is expected to take 2-3 weeks. Please call me with your questions or concerns and I will try help you out. I expect this to be a very successful project and look forward to its completion.
Sincerely,
MINNESOTA ENGINEERING AND CONSTRUCTION SERVICES
